Yes so many tracks give me goosebumps......
The one that took me deeper on 9 feb 06 was SEASONS IN THE SUN
( lyrics here http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/westlife/seasonsinthesun.html )
This song is about the foreknowledge of death.
Now death we all know, comes to everybody and in a way, we all have foreknowledge of its certaininty but not the time.
Most people get queamish when you speak of death. Its like the ultimate unspoken thing.
Some of my thoughts were :
What changes if we know when we would die ?
The song has a tone of being a wasted life. But isnt all life wasted as they say - on the living ?
If i knew i was going to die soon, would i still have the creative urge ?
Would i have the courage to write a song about it ?
The list of people he says goodbye to; who would be in my list ?
If i could give one last message to my loved ones, what would that message be ?
The tone of the song also indicates that the life being lost is one still young and not old.
I once knew someone like that. Someone close to me.
She died young while having a life still full of potential. Somehow when she died I didnt cry.
But today i cried, a little. I cried because i remember listening to this song with her many years ago. But it never meant to us the way it did now.
It is in death, that my life takes on more meaning today. It is richer, brighter, promising and helps me let go of the unimportant stuff.
Update 25 Nov 2011
